Stress & Working Out...
Let’s talk about the body’s physical response to stress. We know stress can make us feel super anxious, but did you know it can also cause adverse physical reactions in the body. Some of these include stomach pain, muscle tension, headaches, and even chest pains.
While there is no CURE for stress, did you know exercise is scientifically proven to help treat symptoms of stress? Exercise releases a chemical called endorphins which are known as ‘natural painkillers’ and are also responsible for feelings or relaxation and optimism. But exercise goes beyond that and also, ‘reduces production of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline’. (Harvard Health Publishing)
So does that mean going to the gym will make you stress free? Of course NOT! But, when we get moving we can treat or reduce stress and produce those ‘feel good’ hormones. Who doesn’t want to feel better from the inside out?
